About the Constellation Logo Design
Walter Santomauro

Designed by Walter Santomauro, AVTO’s logo is a combination of two straight and inverted asterisms (⁂), which outlines the form of the letters A and V. The constellation-like visual emphasizes the user-oriented approach of the organization, its open and malleable structure, and the equality among constituents. The logo consists of six asterisks (*) and was designed based on the sign’s ability to substitute all symbols. It constitutes a visual system that records the changes that will affect the organization over time. Upon invitations to be extended at regular intervals, different visuals will replace the stars in the logo. The constellation system is designed not as an insistence on a fixed and bounded compositional order, but so as to be interpreted by contributors whose practice is not related to design.
